B 111 Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps
World War One, Second World War
On HoldBattle for Life: The History of No. 10 Canadian Stationary Hospital and No. 10 Canadian General Hospital in Two World Wars.
By Jack Hyatt and Nancy Geddes Poole,
Two related military hospitals - No. 10 Canadian Stationary (1916-1919) and No. 10 Canadian General (1942-1945) - were formed in Southwestern Ontario for service during the First and Second World Wars. Both hospitals were formed at a time when Canada played a role on the world stage which contributed to a substantial transformation of Canadian society. Yet, the story of these hospitals is largely unknown to Canadians, especially the citizens of London and the students of the University of Western Ontario, the institution which spawned one hospital and contributed significantly to the other.
