King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps (4957 Pte. A. Rustage, Manch. Regt.) very fine

Pte A. Rustage attested with the Manchester Regiment on 20 October 1896. He seems to have had a checkered military career having been twice tried by General Court Martial for quitting his post and sleeping on duty. He was sentenced 42 days Field Punishment No 1 on the fist count and 56 days Field Punishment No 2 on the second. He was also awarded 14 days imprisonment with hard labour by the CO for an undisclosed offence. This medal is sold with a service record.
