Acting Bombardier Daniel Lyon was born in 1881 at Quarter, Hamilton in England. He attested for service in July 1916 and served with the 379th Battery, 169th A Brigade RFA. He was convicted for being absent from morning stable on 14 Oct 1916 and sentence to 7 days field punishment number 2. He embarked Southampton for Le Harve in May 1917. He was absent for parade again on 17 May 1917 and sentenced to 3 days field punishment number 2. He was awarded the Military Medal for bravery on the field LG 13 Mar 1918.
