Leading Signalman James George Edwards was born on 11 Nov 1901 in London. He attested with the RN as a Boy on 9 Feb 1918. He served the duration of WW1 in Shore Establishments (Ganges II, Calliope and Pembroke 1) or Depot vessels (Prince George) and did not see active service which would entitle him to the WW1 Victory Medal. Between the wars he served aborad the HMS Columbine, Ramillies, Victory I, Hecla and Egmont. He was awarded the DSM on 1 Jan 1941.
