By Strome Galloway
The Royal Canadian Regiment, n.p. 1983).. 223 pp, 8vo, soft cover - pictorial wraps. B&w photos. Taken from Colonel Galloway's "personal diary covering the period from 11 July to 31 December 1943..When the Ist Canadian Infantry Division landed in Sicily on 10 July 1943 Strome Galloway wa the only officer in The Royal Canadian Regiment with battle experience, having served in North Africa on exchange with the 2nd Battalion London Irish Rifles. He proved his battle worthiness many times in the following months as his fellow Royal C anadians will remember. The reader will derive a feel for the day-to-day life of a Canadian regiment in battle and at rest, although there was not much of the latter. As a company and battalion commander, Strome Galloway was in the thick of it a ll and very ably recounts the day-to-day incidents without loss but with a sure sense of the family spirit which exists among fighting infantrymen." Interior - clean and tight with no previous ownership marks. Exterior - very minor edge wear, min or rubbing, spine flat with light creases.
