National Archives of Canada
Soldiers of the First World War – CEF
The CEF database is an index over over 600,000 Canadian personnel who served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force during the First World War. The CEF database is an index to those personnel files, which are held by Library and Archives Canada. To date, over 800,000 images of Attestation papers have been scanned and are being made available on-line.
Soldiers of the South African War (1899 - 1902)
A total of 7,368 Canadians and 12 Nursing Sisters served in South Africa during the Boer War. This research tool brings together three groups of records pertaining to the South African War: the service files, medal registers and land grant applications.

This web site has been created as a free online information resource for collectors, medal recipients, people in possession of family medals or indeed anyone who has an interest in British medals. Most medals featured are, by virtue of their numbers, military awards but the site also covers those awarded to the emergency services, civilians and certain volunteer organizations. There are also a small number of foreign medals listed that have over the years been issued to British recipients and have received official sanction for wear. The period covered by this site ranges from the earliest medals produced in the 1790’s to the present day.
